Ways to Develop a Daily Relationship with Quran

 

 

The Holy Quran is that one book which conveys the privileged insights of the entire universe, it conveys the messages that Allah Almighty give us. Make your heart clean

In order to have a stronger bond with Allah and His Holy Book, you must clean your heart as this is the first step that you should take. This is one of the few things that you must keep in mind before recitation of the Holy Quran.

This is how you should take your first step towards getting close to Allah and making Quran your routine. Quran itself will help you in this, as it minimizes all the bad stuff and cleans not just the heart but the soul of the one who is reciting it.


Perform Ablution

Ablution is generally considered great for physical health and mental arrangement. It alerts your mind that you are not perusing simply one more book; you are going to interface with Allah Almighty, so being perfect ought to be a need when speaking with Allah.


Not just recite it, read the translation too

You must learn Quran in the Arabic language, but you should understand the Quran as well. It is a proper code of life. STRUGGLING WITH PROBLEMS? LEAVE IT TO ALLAH

Sometimes, nothing in the world seems bigger than our problems and it seems as though it can really never be fixed. Ever thought this way? I'd be lying if I say I didn't. These thoughts however come when we forget that Allah is above all our problems. To Him belongs the east and the west, the heavens and the earth and what's even beyond that. So for Him to bring us out of any problem... it's beyond easy for Him.

Think about it. Look around you. Look at yourself. Look at the person sitting next to you in the bus. Look at your teacher. Look at your Mum. Your sister. Your friend. The trees. The mountains. The bee. The tiny ant. The sand. The ocean. The sky. The leaf that just fell to the ground. Look at the world around you. And open your eyes.

 

Who created the air around you and allowed yourself to take in some 8 liters of air every minute? Who is allowing your heart to pump some 90 mls of blood out of the heart in every single heartbeat? Who is allowing some 200 muscles to function just when walking? Who is giving your brain the ability to interpret every image you see in just 13 miliseconds? Who is behind the 20 million billion bits of information that move around your brain every second? Who created enough DNA in each person that can stretch from the sun to Pluto and back — 17 times? And that's just in our body.

Look beyond that.

Who is allowing the earth to rotate at an unimaginable speed of 460 meters per second? Who brings about the birth of four babies in just one second? Who created 50,000,000,000 galaxies in our universe? Who created 20 million tons of gold in the ocean? 

 

Still doubt the power of Allah? If He can do all these and much more, if He can manage everything in my body and in your's, then really, do you think your problem is too big for Allah to handle?

 

Know who Allah is. Know His power and ability. So when you ask Duaa from Allah the next time, don't allow any doubt to creep in. Know the power of the One you are asking from. And if you've asked Him and your Duaa hasn't been granted, understand that if the Controller of the heavens and earth knows it's best for that Duaa to be answered in a different way, then trust that as well. After all, what more security do we need after knowing that our matters are in total control with Allah. He has our whole life planned out. 

"To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. He creates what He wills (and plans)." Quran 42:49

اللَّهُمَّ رَحْمَتَكَ أَرْجُو فَلا تَكِلْنِي إِلَى نَفْسِي طَرْفَةَ عَيْن، ٍ وَأَصْلِحْ لِي شَأْنِي كُلَّهُ لا إِلَهََ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ.

 ‘O Allah, it is Your mercy that I hope for, so do not leave me in charge of my affairs even for a blink of an eye and rectify for me all of my affairs. None has the right to be worshipped except You.’
 

QURANIC REFLECTIONS: '... AND THESE ARE THE DAYS WHICH WE GIVE TO MAN IN TURNS'

I find this verse so, so comforting. I always find myself saying "These are the days which we give to man in turns" and SubhanAllah, it's a comfort to know that if I'm going through something difficult right now, then it was destined for me.

It's all part of Allah's plan but this verse also shows that change is something constant; it keep happening. Today you are sad, tomorrow you will be happy. Today you are defeated, tomorrow you will be successful. Nothing lasts forever. Happiness doesn't last forever and neither does sadness.

So today, you see someone really happy and deep down, you may even feel jealous but know that your turn will come. What you prayed for will come and today, you are closer to attaining it than you were yesterday. So just keep assuring your heart that Allah gives to people in turns. It may not be your turn right now, but it will be. It will come around.

I keep reciting this as a mantra. I see my mother fall ill, and I'll be like وَتِلْكَ الْأَيَّامُ نُدَاوِلُهَا بَيْنَ النَّاسِ and if she's ill today, she'll be ok tomorrow. I find myself in sadness or in hurt and I'll recite وَتِلْكَ الْأَيَّامُ نُدَاوِلُهَا بَيْنَ النَّاسِ. And seriously, saying it in Arabic sort of impacts my heart a lot more than in English. It's the power of the language of the Quran I guess. It's almost as though my heart instantly finds relief. Don't believe me? Try it for yourself 😊

And as much as this verse is a great comfort, it's also a great awakener. Just because you're happy and blessed now doesn't mean it's going to last. It's a reminder that we shouldn't be deluded by our happiness but that we accept and enjoy it when we have it, knowing deep down that it's not going to last. Because that's this Dunya. Nothing lasts forever. Change keeps happening and until we accept that, we can never move on.

10 OCCASSIONS WHEN WE SHOULD "FLEE TO ALLAH"

Just picture this for a moment: A child who has been hurt and is crying and the mother says "Come to me" and the child rushes to her.

Now put it in this perspective - you are hurt and breaking and there Allah says "Flee to Allah". Not come to Allah but flee because you know what? We have no better choice than to flee to Him. The faster to we turn to Allah, the safer we will be.

If our mother called us with affection, we go to her, don't we? And Allah, who loves us 70 times more than her, when He says "Flee to Allah", how much faster should we run. Flee to Him desperately.


1. Flee to Allah when you have sinned

We are human as we sin. That's natural. But the best of sinners are those who repent. No matter how large your sin was, it is not greater than Allah's mercy and forgiveness so turn to Him in repentance. In fact, flee to Him in repentance with a sincere heart. No one forgives as mercifully as Allah does.

2. Flee to Allah when you are hurt

This Dunya, there is hurt everywhere. From your own family even sometimes and at those times when we are heart beyond words, flee to Allah. He knows you are hurt and He is calling you to Him. So go... go to your Lord and you shall find comfort with Him.

3. Flee to Allah when you are confused

You don't know what to do. What is right and what's not. Your mind is confused, you feel lost. So flee to Allah. Tell Him why you feel the way you feel. No matter how confusing you sound even to yourself, He understands.

4. Flee to Allah when everyone has abandoned you

In fact, you should flee to Allah at all times but often, when we are let down by those closest to us, we realize that Allah will never let us down, so flee to Him and hold Him closer to you. He will be right there with you all the time.

5. Flee to Allah when you want to get closer to Him

Ibn al-Qayyim spoke at length explaining that the level of “fleeing to Allah” is one of the levels of those who are striving to reach Allah. Flee from disobedience of Him to obedience to Him. Flee to Him and strive to obey Him. In even the smallest of things. Smile at another Muslim and do it for Allah. You'll attain closeness to Him. Be patient for His Sake and you'll attain closeness to Him. Everything you do, do it for Him. Flee to Him.

6. Flee to Him when you are depressed

‘Amr ibn ‘Uthmaan said: Flee from yourself to your Lord. He also said: "Flee to (and be content with) that which Allah has already decreed for you, and do not rely on your own efforts". Talk to Allah, beg of Him and ask Him. Feeling depressed, that's normal and it happens. But at this time, turn your attention to Allah. Prolong your Duaas, prolong your Sujood. And even if your lips don't utter anything, Allah understands the language of your heart. He knows you are hurting and no one can fix your heart better than Him. So flee to Him.

7. Flee to Allah when you have nowhere else to turn to

When all your paths have become constricted and you just don't know where to turn to, know that the path to Allah has, is and will always be there for you. Just accept His invitation and flee to Him. It's the best thing you can ever do to yourself.

8. Flee to Him when you need help

We turn to people for help and yes, they may help us or they may not. The only One who is guaranteed to help you no matter what is Allah. He is Ar-Razzaq, your Provider and He has taken it upon Himself to provide for you- everything from your parents, to your house to your food and even the very oxygen you are inhaling in right now. So why, when we know that everything we have and want comes only from Allah, don't we flee to Him? Allah called turning back to Him fleeing, because turning to anyone or anything other than Him involves a great deal of fear and negative consequences. In turning to Him there are all the things that one likes, security, happiness and victory.

9. Flee to Him in obedience

Flee from that which Allah hates, both visible and hidden, to that which He loves, both visible and hidden. Flee from ignorance to knowledge, from kufr to faith, from disobedience to obedience, from heedlessness to remembrance (dhikr) of Allah. The one who achieves all of that has fulfilled all the commitments enjoined by Islam, and will no longer have any fears; he will have achieved his ultimate goal.

10. Flee to Him because He is calling you to Him

This one reason is enough. Therefore, run to Him for help. Run to Allah to find solace. Run to Him for indeed all things come from and return to Him in His sublime perfection. Allah loves you and will never abandon you, so never abandon His remembrance and obedience. Do you think that when Allah Himself asks you to flee to Him and when you do, that He will abandon you? No. He will welcome you. With Allah, we are always safe. We always have a place of refuge. A home to finally go to, In sha Allah.

ALEPPO, ALLAH'S HELP IS NEAR

We see what's happening in Aleppo and really, words fail me. What kind of a world do we live in. Practically, something worse than the Holocaust was being live documented and tweeted and people saw it, liked, shared and posted it but beyond that, did anyone truly care? Did we think of those innocent children, the homeless, the wounded and the hungry when we reclined on our soft beds? Did we care enough to wake up for Thahajjud and cry silently to Allah, begging for His help on them? If you have, then Alhamdulillah, your heart is alive. 

It's ironic you know how Syria is surrounded by Muslim countries and yet, no one stepped in to actually help them. How long are they going to compete with each other to build the tallest building and make a car out of gold? How much longer are they going to be deluded by the glamour and glitter of this Dunya? Have we been so blinded by all this that we have become deaf to the cries of the Syrians, blind to their suffering and dumb to even speak for them or at least, make Duaa for them? Do we even have a heart left?

 

So what's there to look at get solace in? The Ummah in in tatters. There are plenty of Muslim countries but who is there to speak up on behalf of the oppressed Muslims, not just in Syria but in Palestine, Rohingya, Kashmir, Afghanistan, Yemen, it just goes on... 

 

The Ummah has lost all hope.

 

Except for the promise of Allah and you know what? I've come to realize that when all we've got is empty promises around us, this promise of Allah. .That's enough.

 

This one verse from Surah Baqarah... SubhanAllah, it just paints the perfect picture. It's as though Allah is talking directly to the people of Syria. It's as though He is comforting them. It's so beautiful...

 

Or do you think that you will enter Paradise while such [trial] has not yet come to you as came to those who passed on before you? They were touched by poverty and hardship and were shaken until [even their] messenger and those who believed with him said, "When is the help of Allah?" 

Unquestionably, the help of Allah is near. (Quran 2:214)

 

I studied the Tafseer of this verse about an year back and over here, I'll write what I learnt in that, In sha Allah.

This verse basically says that entering Jannah isn't easy. We have to go through some trials. And note: If we haven't been tested this way even to a small extent then know that it is sure to come in the future. See, the address here is to us, the Muslims. 

 

And on the other hand, if you are facing any difficulties because you are a believer, then know that this isn't strange. It has even happened to the Prophets of Allah.

In this verse specifically, and it really is the perfect picture of Aleppo right now, Allah talks about how they were shaken- زُلْزِلُ is the word used- by one test after another. And isn't this what we are seeing right before our eyes in Aleppo. Be it chemical bombs, being driven out, beaten up, raped... It's all happening there. 

 

The first recipients of this verse was of course, Prophet Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wasallam and his Sahabahs. Meaning, the previous generations, even they suffered. But even when they were tortured, burnt alive, sawed, flesh removed, etc, they did not give up on their Imaan. So what are the tests we face and what are the negativism we face and SubhanAllah, how vulnerable are we to what we face?

 

So, they were tried and tested and pushed so much so that even their messenger and those who believed with him said "When is the help of Allah?" And isn't this precisely what the Muslims of Aleppo, Palestine, Rohingya, Kashmir, etc are asking? When is the help of Allah.

 

The words of the Quran and perfect. Every single word, Allah has chosen it so perfectly. Notice how they said متى - When. Not أين - where is the help of Allah? This was their Yaqeen, their certainty. They knew Allah's help was going to come. It was just a matter of when.

So even when the world doesn't respond, Allah does and how beautiful His response is. "Unquestionably, the help of Allah is near." This is all the hope we have left Ya Allah!

 

Don't ever give up. Hold on for a little bit longer for Allah's help. Be patient in the face of trials. The path to Jannah is surrounded by difficulties. But these trials, when a believer goes through it, it strengthens him and raises his ranks before His lord. 

Oh Allah, elevate the status of those who are struggling with difficulties in your path. Help them with your special help, grant them Sabr and reward them with Jannah. Help the people of Aleppo Ya Allah!

 

 

THE QURAN HAS ALL THE ANSWERS

Why am I being tested so much?
Quran answers: “Do men think that they will be left alone saying, ’We believe’, and that they will not be tested? We did test those before them, and Allah will certainly know those who are true from those who are false.” [29:2-3]

Why do I never get what I want?

Quran answers: "It is possible that you dislike a thing which is good for you, and that you love a thing, which is bad for you. But Allah knows, while you know not.” Surah Al-Baqarah [2:216]

Why am I burdened this way?

Quran answers: “Allah does not place a burden to a soul greater than it can bear. It gets every good that it earns, and it suffers every ill that it earns.” Surah Al-Baqarah [2:286]
AND
“So verily, with every difficulty there is relief: (repeated) Verily, with every difficulty there is relief.” Surah Al-Insyirah [94:5-6]

Why do I lose hope?

Quran answers: “So lose not heart, nor fall into despair…” Surah Al-Imran [3:139]

How can I face the problems in life?

Quran answers: "O you who believe! Persevere in patience and constancy; vie in such perseverance; strengthen each other; and fear Allah that you may prosper.” Surah Al- Imran [3:200] AND
“And seek (Allah’s) help with patience, perseverance and prayer: It is indeed hard, except to those who bring a humbly submissive (to Allah).” Surah Al-Baqarah [2:45]

What do I get for all these I'm going through?

Quran answers: “Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and properties (in exchange) for that they will have the garden (of Paradise) …” Surah At-Taubah [9:111]

On whom can I depend?

Quran answers: “(Allah) suffices me: there is no god but He: On Him is my trust- He the Lord of the Throne (of Glory) Supreme.” Surah At-Taaubah [9:129]

But I can’t take it anymore!

Quran answers: “…and never give up hope of Allah’s Soothing Mercy; truly No one despairs of Allah’s Soothing Mercy except Those who have no faith.” Surah Yusuf [9:87] AND
“Despairs not of the Mercy of Allah: for Allah forgives All sins for He is Often- For giving, Most Merciful.” Surah Az-Zumar [39:53]

THE TREASURES FROM BENEATH THE THRONE

"On no soul does Allah place a burden greater than it can bear. It gets every good that it earns, and it suffers every ill that it earns. (Pray: ) “Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget or fall into error; our Lord! Lay not on us a burden like that which You laid on those before us; Our Lord! Lay not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Blot out our sins, and grant us forgiveness. Have mercy on us. You are our Protector; Help us against those who stand against faith." (Surah 2: 285-286)

These 2 priceless verses from the Quran would hardly take 10 minutes to memorize off by-heart, but it will fill your life with goodness, both in this world and the Aakhira, In sha Allah. 

1. It is reported on the authority of Ibn Mas’ud from Rasoolillah Sallalahu Aalaihi Wasallam that he said: “Whoever recited the last two verses of Suratul Baqarah at night, they will be sufficient for him.” [Bukhari]

2. It is reported on the authority of Abu Dharr that he said: “Allah’s Messenger Sallalahu Aalaihi Wasallam said: “I was given the final verses of Surath Al-Baqarah from a treasure trove beneath the Throne; no Prophet before me was given them.” (Ahmad)


3. On the authority of ‘Abdullah, it is reported that: “When Allah’s Messenger Sallalahu Aalaihi Wasallam was taken on a journey (to the seven heavens), he arrived at Sidrat al-Muntaha- a tree in the seventh Heaven and it is at the entrance to the seventh. All things which ascend from the earth stop and are held there as do all things which descend from above (It is with regard to this that).

Allah (SWT) said: “Behold! the Lote tree was shrouded with that which shrouds.” (Qur’an 53: 16) He (the narrator) said: “It (that which shrouded the tree) was (a covering of) golden butterflies.” He further added: “The Messenger of Allah (SAW) was given three things: He was given five prayers, he was given the concluding verses of Surat Al-Baqarah and forgiveness of sins for those (of his community) who do not associate partners with Allah (SWT).” (Muslim)

4. It is reported from ‘Uqbah Ibn ‘Amir Al-Juhani (RA) that he said that Allah’s Messenger Sallalahu Aalaihi Wasallam said: “Recite the last two verses from Surat Al-Baqarah, for I was given them from a treasure trove beneath the Throne” (Ahmad)

5. It is reported on the authority of Hudhaifah that Allah’s Messenger Sallalahu Aalaihi Wasallam said: “We have been favoured over the rest of mankind with three things: I was given these verses from the end of Surat Al- Baqarah from a house of treasure located beneath the Throne: None before me has been given them, and they will not be given to anyone after me.” (Narrated by Ibn Mardawaih)

6. It is reported on the authority of ‘Ali (RA) that he said: “I do not consider it fitting for anyone who has understood Islam to sleep (at night) until he has recited AyatAl- Kursi-and the ending of Surat Al-Baqarah, for they are a gift to your Prophet Sallalahu Aalaihi Wasallam from the treasure which lies beneath the Throne.” (Narrated by Ibn Mardawaih)

7. It is reported on the authority of An-Nu’man Ibn Basheer from the Prophet Sallalahu Aalaihi Wasallam that he said: “Verily, Allah (SWT) wrote something two thousand years before He created the heavens and the earth, then He (SWT) sent down from it two verses with which He (SWT) sealed (ended) Surat Al-Baqarah (the cow), and if they are not recited in any house for three nights, Satan approaches it.”
(Al-Hakim narrated it thus, and declared it authentic in accordance with the conditions of acceptance applied by Muslim)

8. It is reported from Sa’eed and Ibn ‘Abbas that they said that the Messenger of Allah Sallalahu Aalaihi Wasallam used to laugh when he read the last verses of Surat Al Baqarah and Ayat Al- Kursi and he would say: “Verily, they are both from the treasure of Allah (SWT), which lies beneath the Throne.” And when he recited: “Whoever does evil will be recompensed accordingly.” (Qur’an 4: 123) And: (And that man will have nothing except what he strives for and that [the fruit of] his striving will be seen, then will he be rewarded with a reward complete.) (Qur’an 53: 39-41), then he would sit back, at ease.” (Narrated by Ibn Mardawaih)

9. It is reported from M’aqal Ibn Yasar that he said: The Messenger of Allah Sallalahu Aalaihi Wasallam said: “I was given Fatihat al Kitab and the closing (verses) of Surat Al-Baqarah from beneath the Throne…” (Narrated by Ibn Mardawaih)

10. It is reported on the authority of Ibn ‘Abbas that when Jibreel was sitting with the Prophet (SAW) he heard the sound of a door opening above and he raised his eyes to the heavens and said: “This is a door which has opened in the heavens which has never been opened before.” And an angel descended from it and came to the Prophet Sallalahu Aalaihi Wasallam  and said: “I bring you the good tidings of two Lights which have been given to you and no Prophet before you has ever received them: Fatihat al Kitaba and the final verses of Surat Al-Baqarah; you shall not recite a single letter from them except that it (the reward of the recitation) will be given to you.” (Narrated by Ibn Abi Laila)
